| How to get to the
British Virgin Islands:
There are no direct international flights to the British
Virgin Islands airport on Tortola (EIS). Flights must
therefore route through one of the Caribbean “hubs” such
as San Juan in Puerto Rico (SJU), St Thomas in the US
Virgin Islands (STT) and Antigua (ANU). Many scheduled
and charter airlines fly to these destinations. If you
are traveling via San Juan or Antigua you will fly on to
Tortola with one of the inter island services.
If you arrive in the St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands
you can choose to fly or take the ferry from St Thomas
to Tortola. Simply take a taxi from St Thomas Airport to
the Tortola ferry dock (up to 45 minutes drive). Ferries
run between about 7.30 am and 5pm and the journey to
West End, Tortola where you will go through immigration
takes about an hour. If your flight arrives outside
ferry operating times you will need to fly or stay in St
Thomas for a night and take the ferry the following
morning. Contact the BVI Tourist Board
http://www.bvitourism.co.uk for up to date ferry
information and booking details. |
