Croatia’s
climate is typically Mediterranean, with mild rainy
winters, and hot and dry summers. Summer temperatures in
July will be about 34°C. The wind is usually influenced
by the Bora or Sirocco.
The Bora is a dry wind blowing from the north-northeast
to the east-northeast direction. The Bora blows mostly
in the winter. In the summer, it usually lasts for only
a day or a few hours, while in the winter, it can blow
for up to 14 days.
The Sirocco is a warm, moist wind which blows from the
east-southeast to south-southwest. It brings larger seas
and rain and is more usually found in the southern part
of the Adriatic. In the summer, it usually blows for up
to 3 days, and in the winter up to 3 weeks. An
approaching Sirocco is signaled by calm sea, light,
changeable winds, increase in temperature and humidity
and a dropping of the atmospheric pressure.
