The Sporades islands are characterised by dense vegetation, clean blue seas and mountainous terrain. Made up of eleven islands, only four are inhabited: Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnisos and Skyros and all are grouped closely together making passage planning easy.

The Gulf of Volos on the mainland to the west of the island group also has many picturesque anchorages and villages within its shelter including Trikeri and Pegadi and this area has its share of mythology. It was from here that Jason set sail in the Argo in search of the Golden Fleece.

Good local cuisine and a relaxed welcome can be found in the many tavernas around the area.
