| Yacht Charter in Sardinia: Sailing
around Sardinia you get a feel for the mixture of the
unspoilt and the sophisticated that has made this the
destination of choice for many discerning yachtsmen.
Great beaches, superb sailing conditions, charming towns
and miles of deserted coastline make it an ideal charter
location.
There are fantastic beaches all around the island, an
interior of woodland and steep valleys along with great
sailing all around the island. The archipelago of Della
Maddalena is a great area for snorkelling while Piscinas
Beach - just south of Mariana di Arbus - has 3,000 acre
of sand dunes known as the 'Sahara of Italy'. There are
many caves to explore around the island. Neptune’s
Grotto near Alghero is particularly spectacular. The
interior of the island has much to offer and if you
fancy a day exploring inland you can take the narrow
gauge steam railway from Cagliari that winds through
some of the remotest parts of the island.
Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia. Located on the
south end of the island, the city has many medieval
buildings and the centre retains its old world charm.
The cafes and restaurants located among the maze of
streets in the Marina part of the city are well worth a
visit. The Castello dominates from its position above
the town. The walk to the top is worth it for the views.
Alghero in the north west is one of the most popular
towns on the island. The small medieval citadel is
crammed with narrow streets and a warm welcome awaits
you in the many shops and restaurants.
Sardinia may be a little harder to get to than many
other Mediterranean destinations but being off the
beaten track is part of what gives Sardinia its charm
and the extra effort is well worth it. |
