| Yacht Charter in New Caledonia: New
Caledonia is a melting pot of Pacific and European
cultures and a yacht charter among these beautiful
islands is a holiday of a lifetime. The group of islands
is dominated by Grande Terre, the largest island and
surrounded by a 1600 km reef forming the world’s largest
lagoon. The other main islands are the Ile des Pins, the
Loyalty Islands of Mare, Lifou, Tiga and Ouvea and the
Belep Archipelago. There are many smaller islands
scattered around the sailing area for you to explore and
everywhere you will be greeted with lush tropical
greenery, gorgeous beaches and diverse marine and
land-based wildlife. Stable trade winds provide
excellent sailing conditions but most anchorages are
well sheltered allowing for peaceful nights on board.
The capital city, Noumea, has a strong French influence
resulting from its colonial past and is vibrant with
markets, restaurants and nightlife. The markets are a
fantastic place to provision with fresh ingredients and
spend some time soaking up the atmosphere of this town.
Isle des Pins off the south east coast of Grande Terre
has stunning beaches in the south and west and superb
anchorages. The Loyalty Islands are simply stunning.
Situated 70 miles north of Grande Terre, a visit
involves an overnight passage so is best suited to a
longer yachting holiday. With so many idyllic anchorages
and perfect tropical islands to visit you will not want
to leave this slice of perfection in the Pacific Ocean.
