There is no bad
time to visit New Caledonia but the most reliable
weather is between May and Christmas. If you are not a
fan of the high temperatures usually associated with
tropical yacht charter destinations then between June
and August temperatures are cooler and the water
temperature falls to 21°C (70°F). Keen divers should
consider early summer when the coral spawns. The wetter
months are between November and April when short heavy
downpours and occasional cyclones can be expected
although they are less frequent than in the northern
Pacific. Rainfall can be expected all year round but is
noticeably less on the western coasts of the islands
that are sheltered from the southeasterly trade winds.
