The weather in
Tonga falls in to two seasons. The dryer season is
between May and October while the wet season lasts from
November to April with the wettest month normally being
March. Much of the rainfall comes in short, heavy
showers, often after a sunny morning, but longer periods
of heavy rain lasting a day or so occur in the wetter
months. Hot, humid nights can be uncomfortable although
less so when anchored away from shore. Major cyclones
occur approximately every 10 years although tropical
storms can be more frequent. These events occur between
November and March. Temperatures are steady all year
round and vary little during the day. An average of 6-8
hours of sunshine a day can be expected.
